Osteopathy is an established and recognised system of diagnosis and treatment. A breakdown in the body’s normal working patterns can place unnecessary stress, strain and pain, on the body.
Osteopathy is unique in the way that it recognises that much of the pain and disability, which we suffer, stems from abnormalities in the function of the body structure, as well as damage caused to it by disease. It also examines the structure and functional integrity of the body and how the parts of the body interact together.
At Pegasus Clinics, we look at the whole individual. We take a full medical history both past and present to help understand your current state of health. We then devise a suitable treatment plan to encourage a speedy recovery so that you are pain free. We also endeavour to try and work out patterns that have caused the problems both extrinsic and intrinsic and help address the factors that you can change.
What can Osteopaths treat?
Osteopaths treat many conditions of which we’ve included some in the list below (more information can also be found in the injuries section):
Neck and shoulder pain
Mid back pain
Low back pain
Tennis and golfer’s elbow
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Repetitive strain injuries (RSI)
Pain related to pregnancy
Posture related injuries
The List is by all means not complete, so if you would like to discuss your injury please feel free to contact us.
Is Osteopathy regulated?
It is compulsory for all osteopaths in the United Kingdom to be registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). The title “osteopath” became protected by law in 2000, thus anyone calling themselves an osteopath has to be on the register of osteopaths. This was done not only to protect osteopaths but more importantly to protect the public from Rogue osteopaths and poor quality treatments. As part of being on the register, it is a compulsory requirement for osteopaths to regularly demonstrate to the GOsC that we have undertaken continuous professional development to ensure that we are giving the best quality of healthcare that is possible.
